Barcroft Apartments
These Barcroft Apartments lie in a relatively quiet, sleepy neighborhood for urban Arlington, VA. Our Columbia Park property is located on the southern side of the neighborhood, close to major shopping centers on one side, and the lovely Four Mile Run stream.
Bounded by Arlington Boulevard, George Mason Drive, Columbia Pike, & Four Mile Run Park; this singular region of Arlington has managed to maintain openness, a large prevalence of single family homes, and many trees and open, green, space.
Introducing Barcroft
This neighborhood contains something very unique to urban Arlington; a quiet, comfortable, suburban atmosphere.
Our Barcroft apartments are located close to the Columbia Pike road, with its array of shopping and dining options, so you never need to feel isolated, but back in the heart of Barcroft you can expect calm streets, large trees, and pretty little parks.
Barcroft History
The neighborhood is located in an area rich in history, much like the rest of Arlington County. Barcroft is named after Dr. John Woolverton Barcroft, a physician and inventor, who built and operated several mills in the area, one off of the Holmes Run stream, where Lake Barcroft is named after him as well.
After the Civil War, the neighborhood really started to grow, adding housing and a general store in the late 1800s.
At the current time, a strong neighborhood association has worked to keep the essential “suburban” nature of the area intact, so you can enjoy the trees and historic homes, all in the middle of a large, dense, urban region.
Economy & Employment in Barcroft
Though the neighborhood is largely single family homes, open green spaces, and quaint parks, there are economic and employment opportunities close by.
Given the proximity to Washington, DC, there are many government offices and satellite offices in the area.
The Pentagon is only a couple blocks down the road, and that complex is also home to a large number of area jobs.
Barcroft Shopping & Dining
The nearby Columbia Pike contains a famous diversity of immigrant and ethnic foods as well as a plethora of shopping options.
You will also be close to a shopping center off of S 4 Mile Run Dr, which contains several shops and restaurants.
Unlike many other Arlington villages, you are trading the luxury of dense commercial development for the luxury of green space.
Luckily, our Barcroft Apartments are located on the edge of the neighborhood, within easy walking distance to a particularly vibrant corridor of dining options, including Chinese, Pubs & American Traditional, Thai, and Japanese.
