Columbia Pike Apartments

columbia-pikeOur Columbia Pike apartments reside along one of the busiest streets in Arlington VA.

The properties: Bartton Place, Columbia View, Columbia Park, Wildwood Towers, Wildwood Park are all located in this highly valued area that houses nearly a quarter of Arlington’s families.

This page will give you some sense of the amenities and unique elements which make Columbia Pike such a great urban village.

Introducing Columbia Pike

Unlike many other spaces designated as “urban villages”, Columbia Pike is a street that runs through Arlington (from Annandale to the Pentagon), and not a centered neighborhood.

However, it has its own special flavor; a mix of ethnicities, shopping, and residential buildings.

The architecture of this region mixes Art Deco buildings, classic smaller Washington buildings housing retail & restaurants, mid-twentieth century single family homes, and newer large office buildings & multistory Columbia Pike apartments.

Columbia Pike History

The Columbia Pike road was first built in 1810 as a means to link the newly-formed District of Columbia to the outlying population centers in the state of Virginia.

At the time, it ran through what was known as Alexandria County, DC (which is now Arlington County, VA). The road was first paved in 1923, and since then has grown into a major urban destination street.

Recently the Columbia Pike Revitalization Organization and the Columbia Pike Initiative have been working to beautify and improve the infrastructure and aesthetics around our Columbia Pike apartments.

Currently it has become a center for a diverse immigrant population. Many of the stores and dining options along this crowded corridor represent flavors and looks from across the globe.

Economy & Employment in Columbia Pike

Since it is a main commercial thoroughfare, there are not many large businesses and organizations that necessarily sit along the road. However, anyone living in our Columbia Pike apartments will have easy access to the major Arlington companies, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations.

What Columbia Pike can boast, however, is some of the best shopping & dining in the greater Washington DC metro region.

Columbia Pike Shopping & Dining

As a major center for a diverse section of immigrant communities, you can find nearly anything you wish to eat or buy along this three & a half mile stretch of Northern Virginia.

From thai cuisine, to Ethiopian, Salvadoran, and Middle Eastern, the choices are nearly endless. Enjoy a curry in a street café or grab a pupusa on your way out to work. Columbia Pike also boasts a couple of major dining attractions like the Arlington Cinema ‘n’ Drafthouse and the 24 hour Bob & Edith’s diner.

Shopping also reflects the great atmosphere of diversity. The majority of Columbia Pike is filled with small boutiques and ethnic shops, but also has several major shopping plazas filled with large national chains for the necessities.
