Fairfax Neighborhood

Fairfax Apartments

fairfax-neighborhood-apartmentsOur Fairfax apartments at Cavalier Court are located in one of Northern Virginia’s hotspots, one of the most desired and convenient of the Washington DC suburbs.

This page will give you more information about the city and our Fairfax rentals.

Introducing Fairfax

The city of Fairfax is an independent city located within the confines of Fairfax County; however it is independent and therefore not (politically) connected with the county.

It does, unusually enough, still serve as the county seat with a small unincorporated zone populated by the county courthouses and government buildings.

These Fairfax apartments are located amongst some of the best shopping, eating, and entertainment in the DC region.

This metropolitan urban suburb boasts large office buildings and workplaces, as well as shady side streets and quaint historic charm.

Fairfax History

The city of Fairfax was named after Lord Thomas Fairfax of Cameron, who was awarded the land by King Charles.

The area was first officially named the “Town of Fairfax” in 1874, and gained the status of an independent city in 1961 (which is why its current name is the “City of Fairfax”).

The area surrounding our Fairfax apartments has a rich history both before and after the civil war.

You remain close to Old Town Fairfax; a lovely downtown with historical walkways and charming shops.

Fairfax lies very close to the Manassas Battlefield Park where two major Civil War battles took place.

In addition, there are a number of historic plantation homes like Gunston Hall & Sully Plantation converted into small museums.

Economy & Employment In Fairfax VA

Our Fairfax apartments will keep you close to the thriving economy of Northern Virginia.

In Forbes Magazine, Fairfax VA was rated #3 in “America’s Top 25 Towns To Live Well”, largely for both the educational opportunities as well as being a wonderful place to start a business.

Beyond the friendly business laws, there are a large number of government contracting firms and government satellite offices located in Fairfax.

In addition, George Mason University is located in Fairfax.

Fairfax Shopping & Dining

Old Town Fairfax is full of small boutique shopping opportunities, and the greater city, near our Fairfax apartments, holds many necessary big box stores.

Like many urban and metro area locales, your dining options are nearly unlimited.

From Japanese to Thai, Classic American to French; every restaurant desire can be found either near our Fairfax apartments or within close proximity.

Transportation In & Around Fairfax

Fairfax Virginia is about as accessible as a city can be. Besides the major roadways, there is extensive Metrobus service, as well as a half dozen Metrorail stations in and around the city limits.

Beyond immediate transportation, Dulles International Airport lies on the edge of Fairfax county.
