Rosslyn Neighborhood

Rosslyn Apartments

rosslyn-apartmentsOur Rosslyn apartments reside in one of the premier historic and art villages of Arlington VA. The Cherry Hill property is located near this highly rated neighborhood with its vibrant community, thriving economy, and eclectic commerce.

This page is meant to relate some of the features and particular atmosphere of this section of Northern Virginia.

Introducing Rosslyn

Rosslyn possesses a unique character in the DC region.

From the sculptures dotting the outsides of large skyscrapers to the wide variety of ethnic cuisine, this gem of an urban village is one of the most desirable living areas. Situated across the river from Washington, it is not subject to DC’s building height laws, and towers over the surrounding city.

Rosslyn History

Like much of Arlington VA, these Rosslyn apartments are situated in an area rich in history. In colonial Virginia, the Rosslyn shoreline contained major ferry stops taking people to and from Georgetown.

Later, in the mid-1800s, the Aqueduct Bridge was built connecting Rosslyn to Georgetown, and was the seat of the Alexandria Canal which was a major local trade route.

After the Civil War, Rosslyn became a largely lawless community known chiefly for its gambling parlors, pawnshops, pubs, and brothels.

Because of its proximity to Washington, the real estate potential was recognized by developers, and the unsavory elements were pushed out to make room for the beautiful modern area where our Rosslyn apartments are currently located.

Another noteworthy historical fact is that, in the 1970’s, during the Watergate Scandal, the informant known as Deep Throat (later identified as Mark Felt) passed his information to Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward in a Rosslyn underground garage.

Economy & Employment in Rosslyn

These Rosslyn apartments sit at the edge of one of the most popular tourist spots in the Washington, DC area.

Besides being the closest urban village to the district, it is well decorated with its famous sculptures and popular high rises.

These features, along with the proximity to Regan National Airport, make this region not only one of the most socially vibrant, but also alive with business and government interests.

Besides being the home to many government satellite offices, the Rosslyn neighborhood is the residence of several national companies like Price Waterhouse Coopers and the Boeing Company. It is a crowded urban setting in the daytime, and a quiet neighborhood at night.

Rosslyn Shopping & Dining

Dining possibilities in Rosslyn run the gamut from local pubs to every sort of ethnic cuisine you can imagine. From sushi to steak, Rosslyn shows just how urban it can be with many dining options, all likely within the same couple of blocks.

Also, like many urban areas, you can find a large number of boutique shops.

Being placed on the edge of a semi-suburb like Arlington gives the best of both worlds; you are close by a number of major shopping centers with a number of big box stores.

Our Rosslyn apartments also put you within close proximity to a growing entertainment district in the Washington suburbs.

From the Rosslyn Spectrum Theater to the popular annual Rosslyn Jazz Festival, you can find world-class art all within the bounds of an exciting, but livable, neighborhood.

Transportation In & Around Rosslyn

These Rosslyn apartments put you within easy reach to the rest of Arlington, VA and downtown Washington, DC.

In the very center of the urban village lies the Rosslyn Metro station.

From there you can make it to ART & Metro buses, as well as the nearby Regan National Airport.

Because Rosslyn is both a commuter and tourist destination, it is one of the most easily accessible without a car.

However, for drivers, you are located at the end of a major thoroughfare, making access to the beltway a breeze.
